Classes vary from teacher to teacher and according to the needs of a particular group. IYTA teachers aim to bring safety, balance and variety to each class and to modify the postures to suit the students.
Classes include vinyasa (limbering), asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), relaxation, meditation and philosophy.
Asanas may include limbering, lying prone or supine, kneeling, standing, twisting, back arching, inverting, forward stretching, lateral and sitting postures.
Some classes have been created to meet specific needs of students eg. pregnant women, children, the older or less mobile and those requiring therapeutic treatment. Classes dealing primarily with pranayama, relaxation and meditation are also available. Many IY TA teachers offer classes in schools, gyms, hospitals and in the workplace, as well as one-to-one tuition.
