How important is the requirement as set out in the brochure to have been attending a yoga class for three years?
The three year requirement is important as yoga is a lifetime journey to begin to understand yoga philosophy and practice. At three years only the first step has been taken.
I cannot find an IYTA teacher in my remote area. Can I still enrol in the Flexible Course?
As there are many styles of yoga taught in Australia, every endeavour should be made to find an IYTA teacher – and we can help – so that you will be working with the style you will be required to teach at your practical assessment.
Some students choose to remain with their original teacher and attend further classes with an IYTA trained teacher.
If there is no IYTA teacher in your area you are still able to enrol in the course.
I have completed several Yoga trainings over the years and completed an Anatomy and Physiology course, can I obtain advanced standing for some areas of the course?
The IYTA course is a whole integrated programme. Prior learning is respected and can be a great advantage. However no advanced standing is given for any part of the course.
I want to enrol in the Sydney Course but cannot attend on one or two of the Study Weekends. What can I do about this?
It is possible to arrange to complete the weekends of your absence by purchasing the DVDs of the lectures and doing home study. That is treating the weekend as a Flexible Teacher Training student.
I live in a capital city where there may be other students of the IYTA Flexible Course. Is there some way we may meet to share ideas and support?
Where there are groups of students in one area enrolled in the Flexible Course, a Liaison Officer is appointed to meet with the students for assessing posture work and for exchange of ideas and for general support.
I have a young child. Will I be able to bring my child to the Residential with me?
It is not possible for a child to be present at the Residential as this is a time of retreat for the student, with a full programme. The presence of a child would be disruptive to both mother and child and is not permitted.
